Licence, data and help
The trial and licence keys, how to remove what Ostgate stored, and how to get help.
Updated
Licence
Every Mac starts with a 7-day trial of the whole app, with no sign-up. After that, Ostgate needs a licence key. To get a key, write to support@ostgate.app.
- Open Settings › License.
- Paste the key, which looks like
OSTG-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX, and click Activate.
- A key works on one Mac at a time. Deactivate This Mac… frees it for another.
- The licence is checked every few hours and works offline for up to three days.
- When a trial or key ends, open sessions keep running and browsing still works; only new
connections, tunnels and forwards wait for a key. This includes
sshfrom Terminal. - Licensing needs this Mac's Secure Enclave.
Remove your data
- Remove from This App…, in an account's menu under Manage Accounts…, asks to confirm and lists what of that account is running. It first stops the account's sessions, tunnels and forwards, then deletes its refresh token, SSH key, saved passwords, trusted host keys and settings from this Mac. It changes nothing on Google Cloud; published SSH keys expire by themselves.
- To withdraw Ostgate's access at Google, revoke it on your Google Account's third-party access page.
- Settings › SSH Integration › Remove deletes the block from
~/.ssh/config./etc/hostsaliases are removed when their forward stops. - To uninstall: click Deactivate This Mac… in Settings › License if you have a key, remove your accounts and the SSH integration, then move Ostgate to the Trash.
Getting help
Help › Report a Problem… starts an email to support with your Ostgate version and system details; Help › Copy System Info copies the same details. You can also write to support@ostgate.app directly.
